New Hippo Techie: Tech toys for cheap

If there’s one fairly immutable rule of consumer electronics, it’s this: stuff gets cheaper over time. Last year’s hot game console will cost less now, either because there’s a new one out or because they’ve learned how to make the same parts for less. It can be frustrating knowing that your purchases won’t hold much value after a couple years, but it also means you can get some great stuff for very little money.

Autobot TARDIS T-shirt

At the Granite State Comicon a few weeks ago, I got a good look at a bunch of nerdy costumes and shirts while handing out flyers for Play Date New Hampshire. It’s not “dead,” as some tech news sites have proclaimed, but it will remain pretty much the way it is now for the foreseeable future, with no major updates other than security and stability fixes.

Thunderbird itself has always been the free alternative to Microsoft Outlook for people who just needed to pull mail from a POP or IMAP service. Though there’s nothing keeping fans from continuing to use Thunderbird, this change is a good opportunity to look at other options.
